Recognizing the significance of this aspect of Folkston's history, the City of Folkston has renovated and preserved the old railroad depot which includes the Folkston Railroad Transportation Museum. Visit the "Cookie" Williams Model Train Room and a one-of-a-kind radio exhibit spanning four decades of radio communication. The museum also contains railroad artifacts such as genuine log books and a model office setting used by dispatchers many years ago. View pictures of logging by rail in the Okefenokee Swamp and numerous other items of railroad history.

ffrp_state egyptian he Folkston Railroad Transportation Museum inhabits the former Atlantic Coastline Railroad depot in downtown Folkston, Georgia, south of Savannah. Folkston has long been an ACL hotspot for mainline action, as major freight and passenger movements rolling between Florida terminals and all points north have rolled through the community for decades. Just north of town, busy CSX Transportation lines diverge to Waycross and Savannah. The museum features a large variety of railroad artifacts and exhibits related to southeast Georgia and northeast Florida, and includes a small model train room. Outside, the Jesse A. Crews Sr. Memorial Park sits adjacent to the busy mainline, affording good views of hourly freight movements and several daily east coast Amtrak trains. Additionally, the popular Folkston Funnel Railfan Park is just a block away from the museum, on the east side of the mainline.
