n the 1960s and 1970s, the Heart of Dixie Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society sponsored a number of mainline steam excursions in the state of Alabama. Most featured Southern Railway #4501, cornerstone of Southern's excursion program in those years. Images and material from the summer 1967 trip are featured below.
