The Route of the Perfect Little Train
Located in southeast Louisiana, the Paynes' backyard scale-riding pike features nearly a 1000 feet of mainline, 15 operating turnouts, two passing sidings, an under-roof car storage area, two multi-track engine houses, multiple trestles, two locomotives and 8 pieces of rolling stock, return loops on either end of the run, and a signal system to allow safe operation of multiple trains at one time. Current LT&P locomotives and rolling stock, all scratch-built on site, pay tribute to favorite New Orleans area mainline fallen flags Southern Railway and Southern Pacific Lines.

he Louisiana, Texas & Pacific Railroad - Outdoor Division is the 7.5" gauge outdoor riding railway of Gordon Payne and family. Located in southeast Louisiana, the Paynes' backyard pike features a 1000 feet of mainline that forms a dogbone mainline -- return loops on either end of the run. The line begins in the backyard and then makes use of raisesd trestles and bridges to traverse a large area shared with horses. Current LT&P locomotives and rolling stock, all scratch-built on site, pays tribute to favorite New Orleans area fallen flags Southern Railway and Southern Pacific Lines. Operating days throughout the year bring friends and family to the layout for railroading fun. - LT&P's Bettendorf and modern roller bearing trucks and couplers came from Titan Trains
TT also makes passenger car trucks, passenger and freight cars, kits, locos and parts. - My caboose trucks are from Tom Bee. Tom also makes other freight trucks and couplers, and made the drivers and pilot wheels for the SP 260 steamer.
- Cannonball Ltd. provided loco marker lights, car bolsters and coupler pockets, and loco (top pin) couplers, as well as the LT&P's low-level switch throws. They also make car kits, parts, many styles of freight and passenger trucks, complete locomotives, and rail and switch components.
- Real Trains provided the LT&P's loco trucks and bolsters, coupler pockets, rail, switch points and frogs. They provided rail joiners and bolts and track screws. They also make car kits, train sets, parts, a small gas loco, and several types of trucks, in several scales. Many of Real Trains' products are now sold by RMI Railworks.
- Connie Miracle makes custom generated vinyl lettering sets and paint masks. All my stock uses vinyl.
- Plum Cove Studios installed the gearing and motors on the NW-2 trucks and provided the SP 260 motor set up and all controls.
- Precision Steel Car makes loads of formed aluminum grab irons, brass detail parts, louvers, horns, steel car bolsters, and much more.
- MDM Locomotive Works made diesel model kits and parts, but are now out of business.
- Godshall Custom Machining made the Andrews trucks for SP 260's tender and builds custom locomotives.
