pened in 1928, the Terminal Railway Alabama State Docks remains a terminal switching railroad located at the Port of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama. The port is Alabama's only deep water port, and is consistently ranked among the top ten ports in the nation based on tonnage handled. It operates 75 miles of track at two ports serving numerous industries, wharves, and warehouses. The terminal line is a subsidiary of the Alabama State Port Authority. Motive power over the years has been various iterations of end-cab switching locomotives, and interchange has always been maintained with the various mainline railroads serving Mobile: currently Burlington Northern Santa Fe, CSX Transportation, and Norfolk Southern.
