route
The Georgia, Ashburn, Sylvester & Camilla Railroad was organized in 1922 by the Pidcock shortline family of Moultrie, Georgia, to purchase a 51 mile road that had entered receivership, connecting the southeast Georgia towns of Camilla and Asburn. 32 miles of the new line was originally the misnamed Flint River & Gulf Railroad, organized in 1910 but never reaching either of its named destinations. The GAS&C and the nearby Georgia Northern shortlines -- the two lines crossed at Bridgeboro, Georgia -- were operated as a part of the Pidcock organization until 1966, when the Southern Railway purchased both lines. Interchange was with the Atlantic Coast Line and Georgia Southern & Florida.
