Columbus & Greenville Railway Current Motors |
The acquisition of the Columbus & Greenville by shortline operator Genesee & Wyoming in 2008 has consistently brought newer, larger motive power to the Delta Route. New power in Columbus and Greenwood has included a familiar cast of characters for those who follow G&W-owned shortlines, as locomotives purchased in batches by G&W are often spread around the various subsidiaries in a region. Such familiar models include the SW1504, the GP38-2, and the SD40-2. Some of the "straight" GP38's purchased by CAGY before 2008 received the orange company paint scheme, but other units inherited from the sale have been retired or reassigned over the years. Several of the Paducah GP11's remain on the railroad, all in previous paint schemes.
