Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum

Turntable Tour

turntable_map

The East Chattanooga depot and Soule shop area includes an 80' operating turntable, located at the end of the museum trackage. Missionary Ridge locals include a turntable demonstration, during which the locomotive is uncoupled from the train and turned 180 degrees on the turntable while riders look on. The locomotive is then routed around the train on yard trackage and re-coupled on the far end of the passenger consist for the return run back to Grand Junction depot. Tennessee Valley's turntable was relocated to the museum from former Central of Georgia enginehouse facilities in Macon, Georgia.
