egyptian outhern #X440 is on permanent display in the Heritage Park, located in downtown Chattahoochee, Florida, on the Georgia state line northwest of Tallahassee. Although Chattahoochee was never served by Southern Railway, the town has always been a major railroad center. Prior to mainline consolidations, four railroads met in the area: Atlantic Coast Line, Seaboard Air Line, Louisville & Nashville, and the shortline Apalachicola Northern. The ACL branchline was abandoned, and the former L&N / SAL mainline (later CSXT Transportation) is now operated by the Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad. As of 2024, caboose X440 is in excellent physical shape, resting on a short display track at one end of the park. Although is wears a caboose red similar to Southern's official body color, the roof, window frames, and underbody have been painted black. Yellow steps and handrails remain, per Southern standards, but the car bears no lettering, numbering, or technical data.

herald_acl1 egyptian outhern #X428 is on permanent display alongside the historic Atlantic Coast Line depot in Crystal River, Florida. The turn-of-the-century wooden structure replaced a previous building destroyed by fire, and was used for passenger service through the 1960s. Currently the building is used by local clubs and organizations. Although the Southern Railway did not serve this area, the bay window joins a boxcar and passenger car as a rolling stock collection adjacent to the station. Caboose #X428 is a standard smooth-side bay window, with all the standard features intact — including unpainted aluminum window frames. As of 2021, the car retains a proper Southern caboose red; however, missing are yellow highlighting on steps and handrails, any car numbering, and all technical data and markings. The Southern name has been reapplied on both sides.

nfrm3 egyptian outhern #X369 belongs in the small rolling stock collection of the North Florida Railway Museum, located in Green Cove Springs south of Jacksonville. Built in November 1974 by Gantt Manufacturing Company, the car is an excellent example of a long-body bay window built new for the mainline fleet. As of 2024, the car maintains a proper caboose red paint job with yellow accessory highlighting, but is missing all of its lettering, numbering, and data markings. A few windows have sustained damage, but otherwise the car appears in good physical shape. The axle-mounted generator has been retained on one truck. The museum also has a Southern Railway single-door boxcar of similar vintage to the caboose.

egyptian orfolk Southern #500000MW is one of a batch of Southern bay window cabooses that survived into the NS roster after the Southern's merger with Norfolk & Western. This caboose was Southern #X485, and still retains all the standard features of a long-body bay window built new for the Southern fleet: aluminum window frames, yellow steps and handrails, caboose trucks, no blanked out windows, etc. As of 2022, the car was still marked for Norfolk Southern maintenance of way service, despite now being owned by shortline operator Rock Island Rail.
