Engineers

The hero of many a trackside boy and the envy of anyone with an appetite for movement, the locomotive engineer has always been a honored figure in American railroading. With a sure hand on the throttle and a keen eye on the rail ahead, engineers know every sag and signal in their territory and they stay in conversation with their kettles and motors through the seat of their pants. On the mainlines, they balance speed with safety to get there on time; on the shortlines and branches, they keep rolling stock upright amidst the rock and roll, to deliver the goods.
