All aboard! Hop on for a ride on one of Zoo Atlanta's family favorites – The Zoo Train! A handcrafted replica of an original 1863 locomotive, the train is one of the Zoo's most popular attractions, carrying up to 100 adults or 140 children. Take a journey through the town of Critter Crossing to experience a day in the life of its inhabitants. The train is equipped with wide, comfortable seats, and covered passenger coaches.

Zoo Atlanta

za_state Zoo Atlanta operates a 10-minute train ride around a loop of 24" gauge track that circles one section of the zoological park. The ride utilizes two of the classic C. P. Huntington amusement park locomotives and an accompanying 5-car train set, all manufactured by Chance Rides of Wichita, Kansas. The motorized locomotives are powered by propane. A handsome depot structure was built for boarding and unloading, and the station area includes a passing siding. The train runs every 15 minutes during normal zoo hours and is stored in a long tunnel when not in operation.
