The Riverside & Great Northern Railway is a living museum dedicated to preserving and operating the superb locomotives and passenger cars built by the Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works during the period from 1950 to 1980. In 1988, a group of volunteers led by William C. Fitt formed the Riverside & Great Northern Preservation Society, Inc. and went to work to save the Sandley Works by turning it into a museum. The Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works, Inc. began building 15-inch gauge equipment as far back as the 1940’s.
