This is a story on the creation of one man's dream, his own personal museum that he now shares with the public. It is the Harlansburg Station, Museum of Transportation. For the past sixteen years the Harlansburg Station has remained a private museum, receiving no state or federal funding. The owner and his family welcome people from Pittsburgh, the tri-state area, and from around the world to share his love of transportation.

hsmt_state egyptian located in the crossroads village of Harlansburg, in central western Pennsylvania, the Harlansburg Station Museum of Transportation is a private collection of transportation artifacts and model railroad exhibits open to the public. Although Harlansburg itself never knew railroad service, the museum features a custom-built replica railroad depot and four former Pennsylvania and Penn Central passenger cars. The collection and museum belong to Donald Barnes, a retired commercial airline pilot.
