Henry Fairchild DeBardeleben (1840-1910) was an industrialist, once called the "King of the Southern Iron World", and the founder of the city of Bessemer, Al. He developed and controlled significant coal and coak interests in central Alambama, and made extensive use of rail to interchange outgoing coal with major railroads. DCC rail operations existed into the 1960s.
